Sinful Favorite Foods

I love chocolate! Dark chocolate, rich in flavor, and not very sweet.

My absolute favorite is 85% cocoa. I've had several brands and I like the Valhrona and the Lindt best. Probably because they are the most accessible where I live.

You might think it's unusual for a nutritionist to promote a passion for chocolate. But as many people are finding out, there is a lot of good in chocolate. Not least is the magnesium it contains. Even the fat is not something to be afraid of. And, there is some fiber in chocolate too. Mm. Yummy.

Next on my list of faves in the sinful category would be butter. I really think everything does taste better with butter, especially if it's replacing margarine. Don't you? I try to find cultured butters, such as KerryGold from Ireland, or Devonshire from England. They taste amazing and a little goes a very long way to satisfy my need for something rich. Plus butter is a natural fat and your body knows what to do with it and how to utilize it. A serving size you can live with, even when trying to lose weight? Less than a tablespoon a day, or 100 calories. That's not much butter. The flavor and satisfaction, though are really big.

Avocados are another favorite food, often avoided by dieters and fat-fearing folks. This food is loaded with potassium, fiber, and folic acid. How much do I eat? Usually 1/3-1/2 of an avocado, depending on the size. That translates to about 110 calories composed primarily of fat. The fat in avocado is mostly polyunsaturated and it is rich in Omega 6 fatty acids.

So, my favorite sinful foods are rich in fat, big on taste, and high in satisfaction. They are not too unhealthy, when eaten in moderation. In other words...a little goes a long way.

What are some of your 'sinfully' delish foods?
